NGC 3239 is an irregular galaxy  classified Irr B, red shift distance is 35 Mly. 
Hargis et.al. (1999) indicate NGC 3229 shows signs of both early and late effects of interaction with another galaxy but do not identify the galaxy.  Note the faint tidal tails.
