NGC 4536 is a classified  SBbc with a surface brightness of  13.8, red shift distance is 83 Mly .  NGC 4536 is a starburst galaxy with star formation occurring in the arms and a stable older population of stars in the core area.

Recent studies indicate the long trailing arms may be a ring as opposed to part of the arm structure.
