NGC 4571 is classified Sc. Surface magnitude is 14.5. Charles Messier entered the wrong coordinates for M 91 and W. Herschel believed NGC 4571 was the likely object that Messier had identified as M 91. Current belief is that NGC 4548 represents Messiers' M91.
