Sharpless 2-142 is a faint emission type nebula in Cepheus. Sh2-142 is part of the NGC 7380 complex consisting of the open cluster NGC 7380, the HII region Sh2-142 and a large molecular cloud NGC 7380E. Also involved is the massive eclipsing binary star system DH Cephei.
